M.A.I. Skipathon Week 2008.

Skipping is very popular amongst fighters because it mimics the movement required when fighting and keeps you on your toes.

Very well done to everyone who participated in Skipathon Week: One hundred and forty eight people gave it a go! It was great to see people having a couple of goes and beating their scores. 5 minutes is a long time when skipping at maximum pace! It was a great test of stamina, co-ordination, rhythm, timing, positive mental attitude and muscular endurance. In fact, most people complained of stiff calves, forearms and shoulders afterwards.

Most of the jump scores are very accurate, however, there was a little bit of cheating. Allowing some people to count their own jumps was like letting teenagers pick their own leaving cert results! Ha Ha.

A special mention goes to Sensei Declan Kidd who gave the Skipathon a go more times than anyone else. His amazing high scores are testament to that fact but he doesn’t want to be included in the list of highest results. So, you’ll just have to ask him for yourself. As I didn’t get near his score, I reckon he must have been counting in two’s!

Everyone got stuck in and there has been a great buzz in both studios for the past week.

VERY WELL DONE TO THE FOLLOWING HIGH SCORING PARTICIPANTS:

1) STEPHEN LARGE 938
2) KAROLINA MARKAM 870
3) ALAN MARTIN 860
4) JURIJS SAVACHUKS 835
5) DAVID BRANNIGAN 817
6) GARY BYRNE 802
7) CIARAN SKERRY 759
8) SINEAD COURTNEY 756
9) GER O’ TOOLE 754
10) STEPHEN SAMSON 744

A special mention goes out to the following Kicking Kids who all did exceptionally well:

And the following Little Ninjas for their great effort:

CIAN FARRELLY, OSCAR BARRY AND NAOMI KERRIGAN.

Congratulations to all participants. We will keep every score on file in case anyone wants to have a go at beating their scores and track their progress.

I can’t wait for next years Skipathon Week.
